DAGUPAN CITY–Mayor Belen T. Fernandez has announced that a giant real estate company has conveyed its desire to invest in a multi-million residential subdivision project in the city.
Sta. Lucia Land Incorporated, one of the country’s largest real estate companies with over 300 subdivision projects nationwide, revealed its plan to start building a 7.7 hectare residential subdivision project in Bolosan District.
It is because the company considers Dagupan’s population as a big potential market and for being the center of commerce, communication and education in the North.
“We already talked to Mayor Belen and we received a very warm welcome from her and she told us she is very happy that we chose to invest in Dagupan because it’s part of her administration’s thrust to welcome new investors,” said Agustin Cayabyab, president of the company’s marketing network.
“We hope to have a good relationship with the Dagupeños because this is a flagship project of Sta. Lucia here in Dagupan,” Cayabyab added.
Cayabyab said that his company plans to create more business opportunities in the city aside from the subdivision project.
“Since we are already here, we plan to develop more projects to cater to the needs of Dagupeños,” he said.
Mayor Fernandez expressed her jubilation over the fact that investors are now gaining a lot of confidence to do business in the city as she envisions this new development project could start to attract more investors and at the same time improve the economy and generate jobs for Dagupeños.
“I welcome new investors and invite them to do business in Dagupan because we are a business-friendly city,” Fernandez said.
Aside from being business-friendly, Dagupan is also a national contender in the search for the Most Child-Friendly City in the Philippines. The City Mayor herself is also a three-time awardee of the Dangerous Drugs Board for her splendid performance in eradicating illegal drugs in the city.
Her programs on transparency and good governance won due recognition nationwide and even overseas after she was invited to speak at forums organized by the Department of Budget and Management, Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines and the World Health Organization.
When Fernandez took over the helm of leadership in the city, she immediately fixed the financial status of the city which was at the time reeling from serious deficit, and successfully removed all forms of corruption and other irregularities in order to make the city business-friendly.
“Apart from this, we have improved our income without increasing taxes,” Fernandez stressed.
Under Fernandez, new growth centers will soon rise in Lucao, Pantal, Bonuan Gueset and Caranglaan following the scheduled amendments of the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
